The game of dominos has become part of the Cuban identity. It is third, right behind Cigars and Baseball as one of the many things that make you think about Cuba.

During the game; the sayings, the gestures, the put downs, and the manner of speaking is something that is exclusive to Cubans, and some of their neighbors in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. The game originated in China. It is believed to have been created around 1120 years B.C. It was probably brought to Cuba by the Asians, Italian or Spaniards, who picked it up from the Chinese. Ironically, most of the sets made today are still being made in China just as they were over 3000 years ago!
